About the Funeral Professional's Day
A permanent tradition to honor the profession and the industry.
A date with purpose
The celebration of International Days is an opportunity to raise public awareness about matters related to work or activities of interest.
In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of the Cemetery and Funeral Industry, as well as the valuable work performed by its professionals. That is why, since 2021, ALPAR has promoted an annual observance of the Funeral Professional's Day on November 3rd, to recognize their work, creating a permanent tradition and continuing to honor the profession.
November 3rd was chosen for this recognition because it falls right after the Day of the Dead observance, held on November 1st and 2nd. This holiday is celebrated in many countries around the world to honor the memory of the deceased and keeps gaining strength, especially since 2008, when UNESCO recognized Mexico's Day of the Dead as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It moves companies in the Cemetery and Funeral Industry to hold numerous activities at their sites, making November 3rd an important day to recognize the valuable work of the people who work for these companies.

With the support of FIAT IFTA
On June 16, 2022, the International Council of Direction (ICD) of FIAT IFTA (World Organization of Funeral Operatives), during its biennial meeting held in Budapest, Hungary, unanimously approved supporting ALPAR's "Funeral Professional's Day" initiative, to celebrate it annually worldwide.
Likewise, other international associations of the Cemetery and Funeral Industry have joined in and encouraged their member companies to celebrate this special date, recognizing the valuable work of everyone who works for the industry.
